These days, the debate about Olympic Games in Pekin is turning around the boycott of the opening ceremony by the states’ representatives. During the lightening of the Olympic flame, members of “Reporter sans frontiers” demonstrate their opposition to Tibetan events and they are asking for a boycott.
Such an act would be seen for sure. But would it be efficient? I think a general boycott would be, but we can not ask athletes to miss such a competition. The international Olympic Comity is responsible of this mess.
There is a real conflict and China is closing it very well to our eyes. I think we need to talk about it failing that we don’t see it anymore. Even if talking is wind, let’s do it hoping it will become a storm for Pekin.

Tibet is a huge country full of resources, almost 4 times bigger than France and not much inhabited. The potential of economic development is really important and offers great perspectives for the future. It is easily understandable that China will do everything to keep the region under control. There are many reasons to be pessimistic for a free Tibet.
Nowadays on earth, economic considerations are on the first level, and a dictatorship such as China won’t be embarrassed by other considerations to use force and violence.
International Community is unable to react and to defend such a peaceful place and humble people and that show in what archaic time we are living. There are many injustices on earth but this one is relevant of our weakness to fight against those.
The balance of power is dominant in the Chinese way to resolve problems. The point is that there is no one to compete, no one strong enough that can stand in front of China. The issue must be diplomatic.
The Dalai Lama is not fighting for independence or for the boycott of Olympic Games, but for a free culture and equality of citizenship between Tibetan and Chinese people. The nobility of the Tibetan cause is recognized by all and should drive the international community to act by any means.
